Myth Breakers - Part 3
Image of Muslims

The depiction of Muslims as violent extremists is contrary to the teachings of Islam. The fundamental teachings of Islam mandate peace and justice. The Qur'an teaches, "Whoever slays a person unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land it would be as if he slew all of mankind: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of all of mankind," (5:32).

The root of the Arabic word for Islam is peace, and the word Islam means submission to God in pursuit of full peace and tranquility. Thus, the term Islamic terrorism does not even make sense.
