TRUE STORY

My Experience in Vieques

By Daniel A. Vázquez Díaz
Picture Gallery # 2
Note to the reader: All these pictures were taken on December 29 and 30 of 1999. The civil disobedience camps were all dismantled by the Navy during the May 4, 2000 arrests. However, the civil disobedience campaign continues. Puerto Ricans and foreigners alike constantly enter the restricted área. In the end justice will prevail.  ¡Paz para Vieques! (Peace for Vieques!)
Weapons left behind, as
targets in the bombing practices. The land is full of debris: discarded military
equipment and ammunition.
Airplane used in the target practices.
Close look at the right wing of the airplane.
Trucks left behind by the Navy.
Another look at the weapons. Note the airplane that
is just behind the tall steel structure.
View of one of the beautiful beaches where
the civil disobedience camps are located.
The "Congreso Nacional Hostosiano",
better known as "La escuelita." Electricity is provided by wind and solar panels.
